YOUNG WOMEN'S SEXUAL
& REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE
While working extensively with young women at sexual risk from 2002, the COME • FEEL • ACTIVE program collected data and counseled over 1000+ young women. One finding was apparent: comprehensive sexual and reproduction health information was overwhelmingly lacking in the lives of these young women. As REACH LA developed its own peer health education ìboot campî training, the youth staff gained the confidence and knowledge to teach and counsel other young women in an open, honest and non-judgmental environment. The results of this empowerment changed the life of the youth staff and their clients.
Today, REACH LA's Girl2Girl Workshops, Girl2Girl Sexual & Reproductive Health Leadership and Peer Advocates develops skills, knowledge and communication of young women of color in the arena of reproductive justice and public policy. Ten young women, ages 14-24, are selected annually to participate in the year long program where they analyze reproductive health policy, meet local, state and national leaders and lawmakers, and learn in a hands-on environment about community organizing and lobbying.

The Girl2Girl Workshop consists of a "wholistic" approach to youth women's sexual and reproductive health. The peer focused intensive workshop includes self-assessment and reflection, frank discussions on sex and sexuality, anatomy, how to access reproductive services, and basics in pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS and HPV.
